Frequently Asked Questions

The Games Yard isn’t childcare by numbers – it’s purposeful play. Every session blends active games, creativity, and social learning, designed to help children move, make, and think. We focus on confidence, teamwork and curiosity — all within a fun, friendly, nurturing environment.
Simply create a parent account through our online booking portal, add your child’s details, and choose your sessions.
Our after-school sessions typically run from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm, depending on school finish times. You can book flexibly — single sessions, weekly blocks, or the whole term — all through our portal.
We understand life happens! If spaces are available, you can book a session up to 3pm on the same day. However, we do encourage parents to give as much notice as possible so we can plan safely.
You can pay using debit/credit card, Tax-Free Childcare, or Childcare Vouchers. All payments are handled securely online, and receipts are emailed automatically.
Yes — we love seeing families join together! Sibling and multiple-session discounts are available and applied automatically at checkout.
Please ensure your child wears suitable and comfortable clothing for indoor and outdoor active play, and always pack a refillable water bottle. We provide all equipment, materials, delicious snacks, and a nutritious teatime meal.
Our Fuel Stop snack station offers simple, healthy options — fruit, wraps, and smoothies — and we operate a strict no-nuts rule. We ask parents to share allergy details in advance so every child can eat safely.
We’re proudly inclusive. Our coaches adapt games and routines so that every child feels confident to take part. We work closely with families (and schools where needed) to make sure support is right for each child.
Families, guardians or primary carers can collect their children at any point up until 6.00pm at which time they will be signed out. Children are released only to named adults on our authorised collectors list. We understand that on occasion you might be running late so please let us know as soon as you can. Please be aware that there is a late collection charge of £10 per 15 minutes.
A qualified paediatric first-aider is always on site. We’ll contact you immediately if your child becomes unwell, and log every accident or incident to share with you that day.
We believe in teaching respect, kindness, and teamwork. If challenges arise, we use calm, restorative approaches to help children reflect, rebuild and move forward positively.
Absolutely. Parents are welcome to drop by for a short visit or trial session (by arrangement). You’ll see our mix of creativity, sport and laughter in action.
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. All staff hold enhanced DBS checks, complete annual safeguarding training, and follow our clear policies for health, safety and wellbeing.
You can reach us any time via mark@thegamesyard.com or through the contact form on our website. During club hours, a member of our onsite team will always be available for quick queries or feedback.
